Lawn with Pointy Planter Thing and Wall

The Santa Monica Getty is impressive not only because of the art inside, but for its complex of buildings. Specifically, it has some nice architecture and beautiful gardens. The complex itself is half the reason I like going there. It has a great view, as well. And it is free (though the parking costs money).

This is a view of a portion of the lawns surrounding the main exhibition buildings. The wall to the left rises to the courtyard and complex of about 5 buildings containing most of the art. The V shaped inset is part of a walkway that descends into some of the gardens at a lower level.

The day I took this it was hot and clear. I remember being sweaty but greatly enjoying the shade and meandering the gardens. We also discovered how to enter the impressionists wing from the back. This is Against The Rules, but does allow one to skip the line which frequently forms at the entrance to this most popular of exhibits. I just love finding small ways to bend and even break The Rules. I admire others that do this as well.
