Dana Point

We were down in Laguna Beach for a short vacation. Early in the morning I took the opportunity to go out by myself and take some photos because no one else likes to be around me when I do that. I guess I wander around looking at odd things and standing trying to get a shot right for a long time, and so on. It can get annoying. So I was by myself and headed south on the highway for a bit to Dana Point.

Dana Point has a nice harbor. It's a natural bay, and with the addition of a rock jetty, makes a well protected harbor for luxury boats.

It was cloudy out that day, overcast and gloomy. The kind of day that can be depressing because there is no sun, not even clouds -- just grey sky. The water was very calm all the way into the ocean. I drove down the winding steep road that leads to a parking lot next to the small public beach, which was pretty much empty. Parking, I walked around the tiny pier and to the beginning of the rocks, climbing a few.

This photo was taken from the pier looking over the protected harbor water to the rock jetty. It's a color photograph, but it is hard to tell. That's how grey the day was.
